Sweet Valley Sounds – Volunteers needed Sat 6th February 2016

January 30, 2016 By Paul L'Huillier

Mountain Bike Park - Mount Beauty

Mountain Bike Park – Mount Beauty

The annual Sweet Valley Sounds event is on again this  Saturday 6th February 2016 at the Mountain Bike Park above Mt Beauty. The event starts at 11:30am and finishes at 10:30pm.

Like last year the Men’s Shed have again been asked if they can provide supervision between 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm. The Shed benefits financially by assisting.

We need 8 volunteers (wearing vests) to work in 2 x 2 hour shifts using 4 men per shift. Volunteers can be in attendance the whole time (not just for their shift) if they wish to enjoy the music and entertainment provided (it’s free for us volunteers).

Can you please indicate your availability to Paul L’Huillier by Wednesday 3rd  February. Telephone: 5754 4554, Mob: 0400 056 247 or Email: <paullhuillier@bigpond.com>

Please indicate which shift i.e. one or both: Shift #1: — 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm OR Shift #2: 8:30 pm to 10:30 pm. First shift will meet at the entrance at 6:15 pm for a briefing.

On Sunday morning the organisers would appreciate some extra help in dismantling the facilities. If you can assist please indicate this to Paul L’Huillier. Again, the Shed benefits financially by assisting.

Well, the day has almost arrived (Tuesday 12th January 2016) when the Shed will be open to members at 9:30 am. Please come along and enjoy a sausage sizzle for lunch at around 12:30 pm (meat, bread, onion & sauce – no charge).

It has been a journey of four years with the last 18 months being full on with the Shed’s construction and internal outfitting.

Attendance days and times are your choice. You can choose a suitable program or activity. This can take the form of a personal project, community project, Shed improvement project or just social interaction over a cup of tea or coffee.

Opening days and times:

Days — Tuesdays              Wednesdays               Thursdays

Times — 9:30 am to 3:30 pm — Morning tea is at 10:45 am and lunch at 12:30 pm  and there will be a ‘tools down’ at these times so members can socialise in the recreation room.

New Membership Form — You would have received in the mail prior to Christmas a Shed Induction Package that included a new membership form. This has to be completed and handed in at the Shed on your first attendance to make sure you have Voluntary Workers Personal Accident Insurance Cover when working in the Shed. This form complies with our Health and Safety requirements.

We will have an official opening on Friday 19th February 2016.

Erecting Christmas Street Decorations – Sun 29th Nov

November 23, 2015 By Paul L'Huillier

The 'boys' hard at it!

The ‘boys’ hard at it!

This Sunday 29th November at 4pm the Shed will be erecting the Street Christmas Decorations like it has done for the past three years. We do this on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce and are paid $500 for the erection and dismantling.

We need six helpers to do the job. It takes about 3 hours. We borrow the scaffolding from NE Home Improvement Co (see photo). If you can spare some time it would be appreciated.

Campbell Ford houses the decorations and we need to collect from him. Meet outside the Mt Beauty Hardware & Drapery Store at 4pm.

Please contact Paul L’Huillier (Secretary) by Friday 27th November if you can assist.  Email: <paullhuillier@bigpond.com> Mobile: 0400 056 247 or Tel: 03 5754 4606.
