Understanding Dementia — Monday 2 September 2019. Free session
Adult Learners Week (#learn1thing) – Building Digital Skills Event. Free event. Tuesday 3rd September 2019. Booking essential.
Program:
• BBQ — Again the Shed will be providing many BBQ delights. There will be the usual socialising, camaraderie and fellowship.
• Guest Speaker — Helen L’Huillier (OAM).
Earlier this year Helen and husband Paul spent 3 weeks helping out on the historic Dunlop Sheep Station on the Darling River near the township of Louth NSW, 100km west of Bourke. Helen will talk about some of their interesting experiences and the type of work they did during their stay, as well as the history of the station and the owners’ plans for the future. Helen has a collection of photos and a short video to accompany her talk.
Helen & Paul’s experiences are fascinating and the photos are outstanding. Come and hear about the shearers who went on strike and swam across the Darling River to play cricket on the other side, much to the fury of the boss who had sheep in the yards waiting to be shorn.

Fundraising for our Shed Extension — West Peak Hotel
This Friday night 26th July from 5:30 pm. The West Peak Hotel and the Men’s Shed is conducting another raffle which is put on by the Hotel. The Hotel provides the tickets and the prizes (which the Shed pays for out of the takings on the night). We sell the tickets and already have volunteer sellers.
We need your support again at this function so come down for a meal which is available from 5:30 pm, buy a few tickets and enjoy a fun social evening. Raffle draw is at 7:00 pm — usually have about 30 draws so your chances of a win are very good.

Have your say and play a role in identifying litter and illegal dumping priorities for the region.
The North East Waste and Resource Recovery Group (NEWRRG), which plans for waste and resource recovery for the region, has received funding from the Victorian Government to develop a Regional Litter and Illegal Dumping Plan.
The plan will be the result of a partnership between councils, alpine resorts, state government departments and agencies and community and environmental groups based on local evidence identifying litter and illegal dumping priorities for the region.
To help develop the plan, the NEWRRG are investigating community views, concerns and priorities about items that should have been disposed of correctly that become litter or are illegally dumped. NEWRRG are seeking your views on these two issues separately where litter broadly is considered to be small items of waste while illegal dumping generally relates to larger items bigger than a plastic shopping bag.
The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete and is confidential and anonymous. Individual responses will be collated and analysed as group data and reported back to the community as the regional plan is developed. Completed surveys must be received by midnight Sunday 4 August 2019.
Anyone that lives in the region is invited to complete a survey. When you complete the survey if you choose to provide your contact email address you automatically enter a draw to win a $100 gift card.
It would be appreciated if you could distribute the survey to your membership by directing them to the Engage Victoria webpage — Click this link to take the Survey < www.engage.vic.gov.au/regional-litter-and-illegal-dumping-plans/north-east>. Survey closes Sunday 4th August.
On behalf of the North East Waste and Resource Recovery Group and partners, thank you very much for taking the time to complete the survey.
