Come along to the Shed’s monthly BBQ Lunch & General Meeting.

Program: Mark Hardidge our very own Chef de Shed with assistance from John Driver and Graham Caulfield will again be providing us with many BBQ delights. There will be the usual socialising, camaraderie and fellowship.

Important Information  

  1. Football/Netball Gate volunteers still needed to collect entry money and sell raffle tickets at Home games at Mt Beauty and Dederang (a Shed major fundraiser).

  2. Easter Rotary Garage Sale — Easter Saturday 26th March. The Shed will have a site at the Sale. If you have any appropriate items that you would like to donate please contact Secretary Paul L’Huillier mob: 0400 056 247 to arrange. Another important fundraiser for the Shed.
  3. Shed Wi-Fi  — The Shed is connected to the internet and access is FREE to members so please make use of it. You will need to bring along your own laptop, tablet or phone.
  4. Shed Projects — If you have any project ideas that the Shed could get involved in please suggest them to one of the Supervisors on our work days (Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday 9:30 am to 3;30 pm).

Furniture Building Opportunity–Sat 12th March

Alpine Permablitz and Creative Collectives (The School of Self-Sufficiency) will be conducting a Pallet Furniture Building Workshop at the Shed on Saturday 12th March 2016: 9:30 am – 5:00 pm.

The Men’s Shed have been offered two FREE places at the workshop. If you are interested contact the Secretary Paul L’Huillier: Mobile: 0400 056 247 ASAP.

The Monthly BBQ and General Meeting Schedule has been finalised.  To view or print the Schedule click [HERE]. It is also displayed in the Shed. Members will not be mailed a copy. The March BBQ is on Friday 18th March at 12 noon at the Shed.

Important Information 

Shed fundraising — For the last three years the Shed has assisted the Dederang/Mt Beauty Football & Netball Club by collecting the Gate Entry money for home games. In return, they allow us to sell raffle tickets at the gate for a  trailer-load of redgum firewood or a $100 Bunnings voucher. Any ticket sales are Shed profit.

This activity is a major source of income towards the Shed’s annual operating costs so we need to continue to provide the service for the Football/Netball Clubs. The committee is seeking Volunteers for the 9 home games in 2016. Volunteers can help for as many games or for whatever time commitment they wish. Hours are 7 am to 3 pm. We work in 2 x 4-hour shifts.

See you at the Shed — The Shed is available for all members to use. If you have some personal jobs, then the tools/machinery in the Shed are yours to use. You can bring the job to the Shed to work on, or you have the opportunity to borrow tools on a short term loan (record loans in the register). If you wish to assist on a community project, let the supervisor on that day know and it can be arranged. We have a different supervisor for each day.

  • Who is invited: Members, potential members & visitors.

Program: Mark Hardidge our very own Chef de Shed will again be providing us with many BBQ delights. There will be the usual socialising, camaraderie and fellowship. Our own bush poet Ivin Beeston will be demonstrating (on the front lawn bowling green) Disc Bowls and Ladder Golf. A Shed construction update will be provided by project manager Ian Howley.

A Male Cancer Awareness Day is being held on Saturday 24th October 2015 between 10am & 2pm at the Shed. The Neighbour Centre is running the day and there is a full program with some very attractive prizes. The program includes: fly fishing workshop, a GP discussing cancer awareness, nibbles & BBQ, Yogo for mindfulness & stress, Prizes: Helicopter flight, lunch/dinner vouchers, massages and more. Annual General Meeting (AGM), Newsletter & AED Workshop

The Shed’s fourth AGM is being held on Friday 18th September 2015 at the Mt Beauty Senior Citizen Clubrooms, Tawonga Crescent, Mount Beauty starting with the usual monthly BBQ at 12 noon followed by the AGM.

Come along for the social camaraderie and to support this unique community project. When completed the Shed will provide a valuable and remarkable asset for the UKV community. Currently we have 62 individual and four organisations as members.

Defibrillator Workshop — Paramedic/Ski Patroller Glen McIlroy will be conducting this one hour workshop on Wednesday 9th September at 12 noon at the Shed. It’s important that as many members as possible attend this session so they are familiar with the AED’s (Automated External Defibrillator) operation. AED’s use simple audio and visual commands and are designed to be simple to use for the layperson.

The Hearing Bus is Coming to Town — The Australian Hearing bus is stopping by Mount Beauty to offer FREE hearing checks and raise hearing health awareness. Location: Kiewa Crescent outside the Community Centre, Monday 31st August 2015 from 9:30am.
