Some Background
As of October 2014 and with the assistance of the Victorian Department of Human Services Grants Program (Strengthening Men’s Shed Program) the Mount Beauty and District Men’s Shed now has its own Shed. It is located on a Alpine Shire leased site next to the Mt Beauty Neighbourhood Centre at 2 Tennis Court Avenue, Mount Beauty.
Thanks to Tony Gentile and son Jason of Gentile Steel Fabrications for constructing the Shed during the period June to October 2014. The tasks of members since November 2014 was to outfit the internals, lay pavers under the verandah, concrete the roller door entrances, general landscaping and constructing storm water drainage. A solar hot water system and a 4.6kw solar electric system was installed. An air conditioner and internal and external blinds for the kitchen and recreational area followed. At the south end an awning was built over the roller door and a feature rock wall constructed. A large Shade Sail will be installed at the north end of the Shed allowing for expansion of the kitchen/recreational room to include an outside area.
The project was managed by Ian Howley with assistance from President Dick Puttyfoot.
The Shed was officially opened on
Friday 19th February 2016 by Bill Tilley (MP for Benambra).
